Nielsen Brandbank and Foodmaestro partnered to host their first ever hackathon at Food Matters Live 2018 from 20th-22nd November inviting Oracle, Sainsbury’s, Rabbit & Pork and Daemon Solutions to participate in three days of ideation and innovation to drive consumer experiences centered on health. Outputs ranged from voice assistants, personalised recipes, healthier ecommerce swaps, and in-store augmented reality experiences.
After three days of bringing their ideas to life, it was time to present to the hackathon judges who had the final decision of who would be crowned the winner of Health-e-Hack. Throughout the judging moments, Rabbit & Pork’s ability to bring together voice technology, product recommendations for the increasingly popular vegan lifestyle, and an impressive go-to-market strategy set the standards high. Therefore the judges made a final decision that Rabbit & Pork, a voice experience agency, would be awarded as Health-e-Hack winners and receive a year’s access to Foodmaestro and Nielsen Brandbank data as well as mentoring from top commercial and product owners!
Speaking to John Campbell, Managing Director of Rabbit & Pork after the event, he commented, “We were thrilled that the Vegan Scout app was awarded first prize! The concept of developing a voice app using big data to enable conscious purchasing and lifestyle decisions, was an incredibly rewarding one. To enrich user experience, as well as encourage greater discoverability, we split the voice app via two search demands that we had uncovered; lifestyle queries and product suggestions. We’re proud of the final result and believe it not only makes the vegan lifestyle more accessible but also provides a mechanic for smaller, independent retailers to be discovered and marketed.
As a very recently launched agency we were honoured to have been awarded the trophy, especially when competing against the likes of Oracle, Sainsbury’s and Daemon Solutions.
