The Wine Society Case Study
Background:
The Wine Society is the world’s oldest co-operative wine club and is entirely owned by its members. As well as providing news and information, it is also an online retailer. During 2006 The Wine Society embarked on re-branding its website, which necessitated replacing all of its outdated pictures. Wine photography is a highly specialist discipline. Capturing a true likeness of the bottle and contents is difficult due the reflective nature of both the glass and the varying colours of the contents.
Brief:
Brandbank was appointed to first develop an art direction and secondly take distinctive shots that would instantly be associated with The Wine Society. The concept is that each style of wine has its own identity, across red wine, white wine, Champagne and Port.
Execution:
Brandbank took its own mobile studio rig to The Wine Society’s headquarters. The experienced Brandbank photographers worked closely with wine experts in order to capture the key brand messages that the images needed to communicate to online consumers. This included the final design ideas for the style and consistency of product shots.
Result:
The four-day shoot captured over 350 individual shots that perfectly depicted the superiority of the offering. Brandbank was also asked to produce a portfolio of generic shots, which they did with the Wine Society team present. The images were given post-production back at Brandbank’s state-of-the-art studios, which finished off some truly exceptional results. Brandbank continues to be a trusted image creator for The Wine Society.
