Unite Case Study
Background:
Unite is the leading provider of student hospitality and accommodation in the UK, providing homes for some 35,000 students. The 125 Unite properties from Aberdeen to Plymouth boast smart, safe student accommodation. Photography on the Unite website was either missing or not presenting the accommodation to its full potential. As the website increasingly became a key marketing tool, particularly to overseas students, Unite were not making the most of their online resource.
Brief:
Brandbank was commissioned to take a selection of lifestyle, sales and marketing images to reflect Unite brand values and enable its target audience to see a premium quality online representation of the product offering.
Execution:
Brandbank recommended that Unite presented a portfolio of standard shots, so that students could compare facilities easily and efficiently via the Unite website. Deadlines were very tight for this project, with just six weeks to shoot, manipulate, deliver and download all of the images. Brandbank’s mobile studio visited 14 properties in the UK from Edinburgh to Exeter, taking 2,500 images. Photography included a series of 360° room shots to allow virtual online touring. Unite subscribed to the Media Manager service, based on the technology provided by Interwoven’s MediaBin, which allowed them to approve, view and download images across the Internet.
Result:
Regular communication between Brandbank and Unite ensured the project was delivered on time and on budget. Having closely followed Brandbank’s recommendations, Unite were able to formulate a portfolio of magazine style photography for use in promotional and marketing materials, as well as lifestyle images to give a feel of how people live in Unite properties. As a result the quality images of the properties have improved the client’s web experience and enhanced the Unite brand.
